The questions we’re asked most often about removing old decks, sheds, fences and other standalone structures. If yours isn’t here, just ask.
Yes. Most decks are built on multiple concrete piers or footings, and many fences have posts set in concrete. Removing these is a standard part of our service and is included in the scope of every quote — we don’t leave a yard full of leftover concrete stumps behind.
It depends on the size and complexity of the structure. A small deck or single shed is often completed within a day. Larger or multi-level structures, or jobs with a significant number of concrete footings, may take two to three days. If asbestos is identified, this can add additional time to allow for safe, licensed handling. We’ll give you a realistic timeframe as part of your quote.
All waste material is removed from your property and transported to a licensed waste facility. Where possible, materials such as scrap metal, roofing iron, and fixings are separated for recycling. Any asbestos-containing material is handled and disposed of separately, in line with licensing requirements. You won’t be left with any material on your property once the job is complete.
In most cases, no — simple removal of a deck, shed, or fence generally doesn’t require council approval in Tasmania. However, there are exceptions, particularly for properties in heritage-listed areas or structures considered part of a heritage-listed dwelling. If you’re planning to build something new afterwards, that new structure may require its own permits. We’re happy to discuss your specific property if you’re unsure.
Every job is individually quoted based on the size of the structure, the amount of waste involved, site access, travel distance, and whether concrete footings or asbestos are present. Because every property and structure is different, we don’t publish a fixed price list — instead, we provide a straightforward, no-obligation quote after assessing your specific job.
We service Launceston and Northern Tasmania, generally within around 65km, including Scottsdale, Bridport, Low Head, Deloraine, Campbell Town, and everywhere in between. Jobs outside this area can often still be arranged, with an additional travel cost depending on distance. See our Service Area page for the full list of towns we cover.
Yes. We carry public liability insurance and hold all licensing required for structure removal.
It’s not strictly necessary, but we recommend being available for an initial walkthrough before work begins, so we can confirm the scope of the job and address any last-minute questions. Beyond that, we can carry out the removal independently, and we’re always happy to provide updates or photos as the job progresses if you’re not on-site.
If you have an old, standalone structure that isn’t specifically mentioned on our Services page — anything from an old garden shed to a carport, pergola, or cubby house — get in touch with a few details and photos. If it’s old, unattached to the main dwelling, and unwanted, there’s a good chance we can help.
